The Knicks — known for their swarming defense and relentless physicality — were a constant challenge to Jordan's Bulls dynasty throughout the late '80s and '90s.
The design draws specific inspiration from the infamous "Virus Game" on April 8, 1988, when Jordan fought through a severe stomach virus to drop 47 points and lead the Bulls to victory. An inner tongue graphic reads 04.08.88 as a direct nod to that legendary performance.
